These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the Pawternity app (pawternity.app) and website (pawternity.uk), operated by Pawternity Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17119150) (“Pawternity”, “we”, “us”).
By creating an account or using any part of Pawternity, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
1. About Pawternity
Pawternity is a dog wellness and lifestyle app for dog parents based in the UK. The app includes the following features:
- Paw Pulse — a daily dog wellness tracker that produces a 0–100 wellness score
- Pax — an AI companion powered by Claude (Anthropic) that gives personalised care guidance
- Vetted — a curated directory of hand-picked London dog professionals
- Milestones — lifecycle guidance for every stage of your dog’s life
- Doggy Bag — a dog-friendly restaurant finder and AI-generated safe dog recipes
Pawternity is a small, independently-run business. We do our best to keep everything running smoothly, but we are not a large organisation.
2. Pax — AI companion
What Pax is
Pax is an AI-powered companion designed to give warm, personalised guidance about your dog’s wellbeing. It is powered by Anthropic’s Claude AI and informed by your dog’s profile and Paw Pulse history.
What Pax is not
Pax is not a substitute for professional veterinary care. Pax does not diagnose conditions, prescribe medication, or provide clinical advice.
If your dog shows signs of serious illness — including vomiting, collapse, seizures, difficulty breathing, extreme lethargy, or any other urgent symptom — contact your vet or an emergency veterinary service immediately. Do not rely on Pax in an emergency.
Pax will always confirm it is an AI if directly asked. Pawternity accepts no liability for decisions made based on Pax’s guidance. Use Pax as you would a knowledgeable friend, not a medical professional.
3. Vetted directory
The Vetted directory is a curated selection of dog professionals chosen and reviewed by Pawternity. Inclusion in Vetted is not a professional endorsement, certification, or guarantee of services.
Professionals listed in Vetted have agreed to our Vetted Member Agreement and have confirmed the accuracy of their information, including any professional registrations (e.g. ABTC). However, Pawternity does not independently verify qualifications on an ongoing basis.
You use services found through Vetted at your own discretion. Pawternity is not party to any contract between you and a Vetted professional and accepts no liability for services provided by them.
4. Your account
You must be 18 or over to create a Pawternity account. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity on your account.
You may delete your account at any time by emailing hello@pawternity.uk. We will delete your data within 30 days of receiving your request, in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
5. Acceptable use
By using Pawternity, you agree not to:
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to access another user’s account or data
- Interfere with or disrupt the service or servers
- Use any automated tools to scrape, extract, or replicate Pawternity’s content
- Submit false or misleading information about yourself or your pet
- Use Pax in a way that could cause harm to yourself, others, or your dog
6. Intellectual property
All content on Pawternity — including the app design, editorial copy, brand identity, Pax system, and Vetted editorial notes — is owned by Pawternity or its licensors. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of it without our written permission.
Your dog’s wellness data belongs to you. We do not claim ownership of data you create.
7. Privacy and data
Your use of Pawternity is subject to our Privacy Policy, available at pawternity.uk/privacy. The Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights under UK GDPR.
Pax conversations are processed by Anthropic’s infrastructure. By using Pax, you acknowledge this processing. See Anthropic’s privacy policy at anthropic.com/privacy.
8. Payments and subscriptions
Certain features of Pawternity may require payment. Where applicable, payment terms, pricing, and cancellation rights will be presented clearly before you commit to a purchase.
All payments are processed by Stripe. Pawternity does not store your payment card details.
If you are a consumer in the UK, you may have a 14-day right to cancel a digital subscription under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. This right may not apply if you have already accessed the service. Where applicable, we will make this clear at the point of purchase.
9. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
Pawternity is provided “as is” and “as available.” We make no warranty that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for any particular purpose.
To the fullest extent permitted by English law, Pawternity’s liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the service is limited to the greater of: (a) the total fees paid by you to Pawternity in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) £100.
Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law.
This limitation of liability does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law.
10. Changes to the service
We may update, change, or discontinue features of Pawternity at any time. Where a change is material, we will give reasonable notice — typically by email or in-app notification.
We may also update these Terms from time to time. The current version will always be available at pawternity.uk/terms. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
11. Termination
You may stop using Pawternity at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you are in breach of these Terms, with or without notice depending on the severity of the breach.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from your use of Pawternity will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer, you may also have the right to use alternative dispute resolution services. We will provide details of an approved ADR provider on request.
